Presidents' Message
Greetings Stitchers,
Hello Stitchers, we are mid fall even though the humidity as I write this, is trying to deny it. Where are the cool, cloudy days when all we want to do is sit and stitch? Our programs are well underway and I’ve heard positive responses. Sue Reed’s “bee-ding” piece is fun to do with lots to learn. Thank you, Sue. Our evening program with advice for painted canvases was very informative. Thank you Jane Melick and Karen McCafferty for sharing your expertise.
In other news, our Spring Workshop plans with Toni Gerdes are moving along. Cheryl Bouchard has graciously agreed to be the coordinator for this event. We will be doing “Under a Copper Moon” which is exquisite. Later in this newsletter will be details and a registration coupon.
The Board discussed the option of having a Fall or Spring Workshop. We could think about it for the future. If you have any thoughts about it, please share them with our Program chairpersons, Pam Lathwood and Martha Roberts.
In other business, our chapter has made a donation to the Golden Needle Society. This is an Endowment Fund to “Preserve the past and ensure the future.” I’m sure we all want to see our craft carried on for generations to come.
Just a reminder about some “house” rules. Please be mindful of anyone participating in a workshop. We need to keep the noise level down. Also, please remember name tags and be aware that liquids, covered or not, should not be on a table where stitching is being done. Lastly, please mute cell phones or put them on vibrate. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
Betsy

About Us:
Have you been a lifelong stitcher? Has your interest in needlepoint waned a bit?
Or are you just wondering what to do with a needle, thread and some canvas?
Are you a friend of a needle pointer and curious as to what needle pointers do? Then you have come to the right website! We welcome all levels of stitchers to our chapter, and we have plenty of interesting activities planned for our members throughout the year.
Needlepoint is easy, fun and affordable. You can create wonderful designs to make for yourself, or to give as presents to friends and family, which will be treasured for many years. Whether it is a painted design or a charted counted canvas piece to more varied Needlepoint Design, all are of tremendous interest to see in progress or completed.
Programs at the regular monthly meetings range from stitching projects (usually taught by a chapter member) to lectures and social events. All of these are described in our chapter newsletter Needle Points, which is distributed to our members four times a year. A Special event luncheon and dinner is also planned for the winter holidays in December as well as a year-end celebration in May. We also encourage Stitch-ins at members’ homes and in public spaces to spread the joy of our craft.
In addition, the Chapter sponsors at least one multi-day workshop annually, taught by a nationally-known teacher, and offering a more complex project than is suitable for the shorter monthly meetings.
I invite you to come to our next meeting, and bring a friend, too. The MANG Chapter meets twice a month from September through May. Our day meetings are held on the third Thursday at the Wellesley Community Center, 219 Washington Street, Wellesley Hills, MA. Meetings begin at 10:00 a.m. The evening meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday at the Marriott Courtyard hotel at 270 Concord Road, Billerica, MA. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. All meetings are open to potential members.
Please do join us!
Karen
Chapter Purpose
The American Needlepoint Guild is an educational organization dedicated to promoting all forms of needlework on a readily counted ground fabric.
Stitch-ins
Stitch-ins are a time to get together with a small group to work on any project you have been wanting to start, complete or just share ideas on threads and stitches. Sometimes we just work along with some others who may been working on a similar project. Your hostess will provide coffee and tea, and often a breakfast item and or a dessert. Please notify the Hostess 24-49 hours in advance so she can plan on seating and other requirements. Attendees will need to bring their lunch and their project, along with any stitching tools they might require. Stitch-ins normally start between 9:30-10:00 AM. HOWEVER there is no reason that a Stitch-in could not be held in the evening or a weekend for those working gals who are unable to get away during the day. We would love to see an evening Stitch-in and we would be pleased to announce it in the Newsletter, and send out reminders. If you plan on attending a Stitch-in, please notify the hostess 48 hours in advance. Come and enjoy a fun day with friends who enjoy the same hobby. If you are new to the group, this is a great way to get to know everyone. If you would like to hold a Stitch-in please contact Karen McCafferty, stitch-in coordinator.
